NNorthHarp provides calm, consistent outreach support in Amsterdam when there is a long-term support need and daily functioning requires ongoing attention. The focus is on continuity, structure, sensory processing, emotional regulation, independence and practical coordination.
Understanding the system
What is long-term care in the Netherlands?
The Wet langdurige zorg, known as the Wlz, is the Dutch Long-term Care Act. It provides nationally funded care for people with serious, permanent support needs: typically individuals with a significant intellectual or physical disability, or with a condition such as severe autism spectrum disorder where intensive, continuous care is expected to be lifelong.
The key question the Wlz asks is whether a person can live at home safely, even with help from family, community services or the municipality. If they cannot, the Wlz may apply. Eligibility is decided by the CIZ (Centrum Indicatiestelling Zorg), an independent Dutch assessment body that NNorthHarp has no involvement with.
Once Wlz eligibility is established, care can be arranged through a care provider or through a personal budget (Wlz-PGB): money granted directly to the family or individual to hire their own support. The Wlz is separate from municipal care (Wmo) and youth care (Jeugdwet).

Important
What NNorthHarp does and does not do
To avoid misunderstanding: NNorthHarp is not an assessment body and is not involved in the official Wlz process. NNorthHarp does not take over the role of the CIZ, the zorgkantoor or any other authorised body. Applications, assessments and eligibility decisions sit entirely outside NNorthHarp's scope.
During an introductory meeting we can only discuss whether the content of outreach support can practically connect to the support question, the day-to-day situation and any existing arrangements.

When there is a long-term support need, it matters that the support itself does not keep becoming uncertain. A consistent approach, concrete goals and regular review create calm for the person receiving support and for the people around them.

Wlz assessment and application
A Wlz assessment or Wlz application is not issued or submitted by NNorthHarp. The official route runs through the responsible Dutch bodies, in particular the CIZ for eligibility assessment and the zorgkantoor for care arrangements.

Personal budget within the Wlz (Wlz-PGB)
If a personal budget plays a role within a long-term care context, NNorthHarp does not decide on its approval or conditions. Decisions about Wlz-PGB funding lie with the authorised bodies.
